A magnificent trek in the Moroccan desert that starts and ends in Marrakech. A 10-days journey into the Sahara desert, breathtaking landscapes of valleys and deserts.
Day 1: MARRAKECH – DJINEYA (ZAGORA)
Early morning transfer from Marrakech to M’hamid, crossing the Atlas Mountains through Tizi-n-Tichka, then along the Djebel Tiffernine before entering the Saghro massif that you cross through the Tizi n’Tinififft pass. Here is the magnificent Drâa valley, its ksours, and kasbahs, which you follow to Zagora, meeting the team of camel drivers in Djineya. Dinner and night in the desert.
Day 2: DJINEYA – OASIS OUM LILI – LBOUDIAT
In the morning coolness, you cross the Djebel Bani through the Djineya pass. Panoramic view of the vast green ribbon of the Drâa valley. After the noon break, you continue your walk to cross the Oasis of Oum Lili. Camp setup in Lboudiat.
Day 3: LBOUDIAT – HASSI NAANAA – STILLA
In the morning, you walk through a hamada of acacias, after the noon break, you continue your day in the Bani and Stilla mountains that you reach at the end of the day.
Day 4: STILLA – OUED LAMHASSER
Southbound: here are the endless desert plateaus, the Bani mountains, the black stone desert. Camp at Oued Lamhasser.
Day 5: OUED LAMHASSER – CHEGAGA
We are heading this day towards Chegaga, the largest dunes in the region, where one can see the sea of sand (for those who want, they can enjoy a sand bath!!!). Bivouac in the middle of this immensity.
Day 6: CHEGAGA – OUED LAATACH
You are now progressing to the heart of the sand desert: around you, the majestic dunes extend to infinity. Bivouac at Oued Laatache.
Day 7: OUED LAATACH – BOUGERN
Through dunes and Tamarist, the caravan continues its itinerary to reach the dunes of Bougern. Bivouac in the middle of the dunes of Bougern.
Day 8: BOUGERN – OUED NAAM
We will reach the Oued Naam (formerly inhabited by ostriches) through stony and rocky regs, which has kept its name from its inhabitants. (Naam = Ostriches). Bivouac at Oued Naam.
Day 9: OUED NAAM – M’HAMID
You are leaving Oued Naam calmly, the walk continues through the Hamada Du Drâa, a vast stony desert (reg) dotted with volcanic stones. Arrival in the late afternoon at M’hamid, rest and possibility of taking a shower. Dinner and night in the desert.
Day 10: M’HAMID – MARRAKECH
After breakfast, transfer to Marrakech, lunch in Ouarzazate, arrival in the afternoon.
