Trekking in the Moroccan Desert is an emotional and surprising walking trek. You will discover authentic Morocco and sleep in a bivouac in the desert worthy of the tales of One Thousand and One Nights.
Day 1: MARRAKECH – DJINEYA (ZAGORA)
Transfer from Marrakech to M’hamid in the morning, cross the Atlas Mountains by Tizi-n-Tichka, then along the Djebel Tiffernine before entering the Saghro massif that you cross by the Tizi n’Tinififft pass. Now here is the magnificent Drâa valley, its ksours and kasbahs, that you follow to Zagora, meeting with the team of camel herders in Djineya. Dinner and night in the desert.
Day 2: DJINEYA – OASIS OUM LILI – LBOUDIAT
In the morning freshness, you cross the Djebel Bani by the Djineya pass. Panoramic view of the immense green ribbon of the Drâa valley. After the noon break, you resume your walk to cross the Oasis of Oum Lili. Setting up the bivouac in Lboudiat.
Day 3: LBOUDIAT – HASSI NAANAA – STILLA
In the morning, you travel through a hamada of acacias, after the noon break, you continue your day in the Bani and Stilla mountains that you reach at the end of the day
Day 4: STILLA – OUED LAMHASER – OUED LGHAREG
Heading due south: here are the endless desert plateaus, and the Bani mountains, the desert of black stones. Bivouac at Oued Lghareg.
Day 5 and 6: OUED LGHAREG – OUED LAATACH – BOUGERNE – OUED NAAM
Through dunes and Tamarist, the caravan continues its journey for these 2 days to reach Oued Laatach, Bougarn, and then Oued Naam (formerly populated by ostriches) which has kept the name of its inhabitants. (Naam = Ostriches).
Day 7: OUED NAAM – M’HAMID
You leave Oued Naam peacefully, the walk continues through the Hamada Du Drâa, a vast stony desert (reg) dotted with volcanic stones. Arrival in the late afternoon at M’hamid, rest and possibility of taking a shower. Dinner and night in the desert.
Day 8: M’HAMID – MARRAKECH
After breakfast, transfer to Marrakech, lunch on the way, arrival in the afternoon.
